Home tuition is a good gift for your child because it is a gift they’ll be able to benefit from for years and years to come, if not for the rest of their life. Any other type of gift you could get them is only temporary and will only offer short term value to the child.
Making the decision to use home tuition is a choice that’ll benefit the child in so many ways that it will far out weight any other type of gift you were considering getting them. So when you decide to make this choice you want to keep that in mind, this will make it easier for you to take the final step and begin to look for someone to do the job.
Giving the gift of home tuition to your child is great and all, but you need to make sure that the person you choose is able to teach the child properly. Your number one mission should be to make sure they are able to transfer all of their knowledge to the child in a way that they’ll understand.
What I mean is if your child has a subject they’re struggling with then your home tutor should be able to explain it to them in a way that it did not get across in a conventional classroom setting. Each tutor may have a different way of doing this, but the overall purpose is to take the subjects your child is struggling with and find someone who will be able to work out the kinks.
Once you see they’re able to do this you’ll know that you have someone who will be very beneficial to your child. If they are able to solve the problem, or even able to make progress where progress wasn’t being made before then this is a sign of a very good tutor.
Some tutors will be able to teach certain subjects better then others, this is why you want to make sure your home tutor has specialized skills in the subject you want them to focus on when tutoring your child. If not this you want to make sure the way they deliver the information is unique in a way that your child will pick it up.
This starts first by being able to communicate with your child. This means you want to see your child responding to the tutor. You want to see them engaged, you want to see them interacting, you want to see that they are able to interact with the tutor in such a way that whatever problems they are having those problems will be addressed. If your child is afraid to speak up, or just doesn’t get along with the person you decided to hire then learning isn’t going to be.
You can find ways to see if your child is picking up on the information. If you see your child is performing better then you know you have someone worth keeping long term, or at least until they have meet the goal of improving your child academically.
